Design and History The present owners created the ultimate family compound, artistically pleasing in its sophisticated Northwest style, exciting and inviting. The 6.43 acre property consists of a seven-bedroom, six full and two half bath main house; the spectacular 10,600 sq. ft. ''Sports Barn,'' a guest cottage, and a trout pond and pool setting.
The Main Home
Front Entrance – The covered porch, with its stone wall and carriage lamps, is highlighted by the hand-crafted, eight-foot alder-wood front door.
Foyer—Two-story foyer with circular staircase.
Living room—Featuring a wood-paneled, cathedral ceiling, stone wall fireplace, and window wall w/ window seating. The interior stone wall is one of four throughout the house.
Sun Room – Full stone wall fireplace. Sliding Tichler doors on ball bearings lead to a deck with pond views. There is also radiant heat in the floors.
Dining Room—An ideal setting for intimate dinners or as a buffet station for large gatherings. The floors are black walnut.
Kitchen – Renovated in 2005, the kitchen has hand-crafted alder-wood cabinetry and doors, granite counter tops, large granite island and French Antique Limestone Floors. The custom-carved limestone sink was made in Mexico and the top-of-the-line appliances include Miele double ovens, two Miele dishwashers, two refrigerators, freezer drawers and a Gagganau gas stove. Notice the hand-crafted arched door in the pantry and the original art work on the side of island.
Family Room Opening from the kitchen is the family room with its two-story barn-beam cathedral ceiling, dramatic wall of windows and window seating at all three windows. The Tischler windows open both sideways and tilt. The room also features wide-plank white oak floors, a remote-controlled gas fireplace and a custom-designed entertainment system.
Game Room Just steps from the family room, this room, along with a full compliment of games, including a pool table, has a corner stone fireplace and sliding glass doors to large deck.
Library The library has an oak wood ceiling and extensive book shelves, with a separate office and half bath.
Second Floor Guest Room This large bedroom, nicknamed ''The Dignitaries Room,'' has a full bath, including Jacuzzi, and sliding glass doors to deck overlooking the pond.
Bedroom Suites There are four additional bedrooms on the second floor—two, two-bedroom suites, each with its own whirlpool baths and showers.
Exercise Room …with mirrored wall, has room for a full slate of exercise equipment. The second floor also features the Luggage Room and Christmas Closet, both; convenient storage areas.
Master Bedroom Wing Master Bedroom …Has a corner stone fireplace with copper-hood, and a wall of Tischler French Doors that open to a large deck overlooking the pond, with lovely wooded views.
Master Baths Hers—Featuring a bench with heat lamp, whirlpool bath and shower, and radiant heat in floor. His—Has a green, granite counter, steam shower and whirlpool bath.
Child’s bedroom/playroom--Just off the master bedroom is this convenient bedroom, with full whirlpool bath, ideal for a young child, or as a sitting room.
Command Center Room—Custom designed as the home command center, this room has a desk, filing drawers, a safe and covered Meile washer and dryer.
Hidden Office (back of garage) In the back of the garage there is a full office, with custom desk, file drawers, two refrigerator drawers, sink, and large, standing safe. There is also a sports closet for guns, golf and fishing rods.
The Sports Barn
This 10,600 sq. ft. spectacular recreation and entertainment center, was built in 2004 and received the 2005 Home Building Industry Award in the category of Best Accessory Building. It has Smart House technology- a single switch by the door turns on or off most of the common-area lights. There’s also a closed-circuit TV of the basketball court and game room, so kids can be watched from the house.
Entrance The entrance features a hand-crafted, extra thick front door and etched-glass panels, designed by a glass architect in Utah (which matches the doors to the dance studio inside).
The Dining Area The large dining area, with four Alder-wood tables (seats 30), and antique chestnut floors, overlooks the basketball court and stage.
The French Country Kitchen The dining area connects with the French Country kitchen that features a barn-beam ceiling, island with walnut top and custom cabinetry. There is a refrigerator, freezer and gas cook top. The French limestone farmer’s sink is hand-carved and so heavy, it took machinery to get inside. Two ovens are accompanied by a six-burner gas range.
The TV Lounge Just off the kitchen is a TV lounge with a corner stone fireplace and half bath.
The Half Basketball Court NBA quality, it has a height-adjustable net and backboard, and an electronic scoreboard. The basketball court also doubles as dining room for large events, with chairs and tables to accommodate 120. There are colorful lighting effects for special events, including disco lighting for ''teen dance nights.'' The two, large barn doors lead to a large bluestone patio.
The Stage Professional stage, with a maroon, velvet curtain, and Broadway-level lighting and sound system. There is a ''storage garage'' under the stage, for large wheeled toys and trikes favored by the younger children.
The Dance Studio This room has a mirrored wall, ballet barre and wall fountain. There is a full bath with steam shower.
The Staircase Made of pine, this three-story circular log staircase is a true work of art. It was hand made in Colorado before being shipped to New Canaan, with the design team, to be assembled.
Lower Level Game Room Take the spiraling staircase down to the game room, where there is a pool table, made from tree trunks, is three inches lower than normal, to accommodate younger children. The children’s Bowling Alley has automatic ball return and can keep score for six players. The lighted Onyx bar—built to match the radius of the staircase-- has two freezer and two refrigerator doors and a dishwasher. The Full Swing Golf-Simulator Room …Dubbed the ''Ultimate Golf Simulator'' By Business Week magazine, this program allows you to play 50 golf courses in the comfort of your own home, including Pebble Beach and St. Andrews, with sensors that measures both the speed and spin of your shot. The mural on the back wall depicts West Virginia’s famous The Greenbriar golf course. The Movie Theater/Media Room Tiered seating, with over-sized leather chairs and benches and a speaker system built into the wall, allows over 30 people to relax comfortably while watching the Big Game. The theater is made of barnwood, has a starlit ceiling, and, along with the entire lower level, has extensive soundproofing. You can sit in the theater, while a basketball game is being played on the main level, and not be disturbed.
Top level
Wind your way back up the log staircase—or take The Elevator, which connects all three floors and the caterer’s garage—to the top level, where you will find Three Bedrooms, Three Baths and TV sitting lounge. Both ''bunk rooms'' have baths with double sinks, tub and shower. The main bedroom, nicknamed ''The Supervisor’s Room'' has its own full bath, with tub and shower. The lounge area has a corner stone fireplace and TV. The balcony has a closet with the professional lighting and sound system.
The Garage …has a catering kitchen, with extra-large refrigerator and sink.
Guest Cottage Between the Main House and Sports Pavilion is this charming guest cottage, nicknamed the ''Honeymoon Cottage'' that has a living room with window seats, brick fireplace, terra cotta tile kitchenette with refrigerator,/freezer, dishwasher and stove, bedroom and full bath.

Trout Pond The fully-stocked trout pond features two waterfalls, which oxygenates the water for the fish.
Kitchen Cabana The Cabana, built in 2005, has a mushroom wood roof, antique wood beams, a full kitchen with Pecky Cypress cabinetry (impervious to dampness), a stone wall fireplace and table seating for 30. The top-of-the-line kitchen appliances include a refrigerator, Viking stove, microwave, granite bar, 2 refrigerator drawers, 2 freezer drawers and a large grill. Closet has switch for kitchen’s steel curtain.
